It
was the year 1929 when for the first time an Indian company
generated electricity with a
steam engine in the city of Zabol, and later the
output was increased in 1949 by the installation of two 30
and 75 kw diesel generators
throughout the municipality which supplied electricity
to users till 1970 when power output in Zabol reached
1857 kw.
Also for the first time in
Zahedan, with the help of the capital provided by two
people, in 1941 a 50 kw generator was installed which
supplied electricity to users and in 1962 the above
mentioned installation was transferred to Zahedan
municipality.
At this time installated
power was 400 kw, and till 1967 according to the Iranian
Electricity Expansion Organization, the
management of electricity was transferred to Iran
South-Eastern Regional Electric Company (Kerman center).
This power increased to 1200 kw.
The Sistan & Baluchestan
Regional Electric Company separated from Iran South-Eastern
Regional Electric Company in September 1981, and operated as
an independent organization and was able to increase output
to 1602 million kw.
The number of villages with
electricity in the province till the end of 1999 reached
1604, which means 127624 families have been using
electricity since.
