history

It was the year 1929 when for the first time an Indian company generated electricity with a steam engine in the city of Zabol, and later the output was increased in 1949 by the installation of two 30 and 75 kw diesel generators throughout the municipality which supplied electricity to users till 1970 when power output in Zabol reached 1857 kw.

Also for the first time in Zahedan, with the help of the capital provided by two people,  in 1941 a 50 kw generator was installed which supplied electricity to users and in 1962 the above mentioned installation was transferred to Zahedan municipality.

At this time installated power was 400 kw, and till 1967 according to the Iranian Electricity Expansion Organization, the management of electricity was transferred to Iran South-Eastern Regional Electric Company (Kerman center). This power increased to 1200 kw.

The Sistan & Baluchestan Regional Electric Company separated from Iran South-Eastern Regional Electric Company in September 1981, and operated as an independent organization and was able to increase output to 1602 million kw.

The number of villages with electricity in the province till the end of 1999 reached 1604, which means 127624 families have been using electricity since.
